Last weekend, I had a good friend's wedding in New Plymouth. Her hometown, her place she loves, somewhere she wanted us to visit. To be honest when I got on the plane I had no idea where I was going. To put things in perspective, I could have easily made the same mistake another friend of ours made, she booked their flight to Palmerston North instead.... eek!
We arrived on the Friday morning to a quick tour from our AMAZING hosts for the weekend. The wedding started a few hours later, so make-up, hair and nails were completed quickly. I wore an oldie but a goodie dress from Veronika Maine. When in doubt, Veronika Maine always wins.
The ceremony was set overlooking the beach, an absolutely stunning backdrop (and bride) with a pearler hot day to match. The reception was at The Bungalow, Oakura. It had a stunning outlook over the sea. I was now beginning to understand what my friend was going on about! When the wedding festivities ended we went and explored what else New Plymouth had to offer.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTSThis amazing festival runs every year at Pukekura Park. A must-visit, plus there is still time! Finishes on the 30th Jan.
Yes.... we were busy but didn't even see half of what this West Coast beachside gem really had to offer...including Mt Taranaki! This South Island bumpkin really had her eyes opened. It's amazing what New Zealand has to offer that sometimes us kiwis can easily miss.
